Veteran Tamil actor Vivek, 59,Passes Away at PrivateHospital in Chennai Following Cardiac Arrest
Vivek was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Chennai on Friday morning and passed away early morning on Saturday.
“He passed away at 4.35 am,” read a medical bulletin from SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani.
In a statement, the SIMS Hospital had said that Vivek was brought to the emergency ward of the hospital in an unconscious state at about 11am. by his family members. Vivek was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists. Later, he underwent an emergency coronary angiogram followed by an angioplasty.
A cardiogenic shock is a condition where the heart is not able to pump sufficient blood that the body needs, which occurs due to a severe heart attack.
Denying any links between his cardiac arrest and the vaccine shot he received, state Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said around 830 people were administered the Covaxin at the same hospital on Thursday and all of them were fine.
Vivek was launched by legendary filmmaker K Balachander in the late 1980s. He went on to become one of the most sought after comedy actors of Tamil cinema in the 1990s and retained a stronghold in the industry.
